Geocache Description:

Case # GC4ME87 Hessian Hauntings

Greetings, My name is Professor Hal Owean. I am the head of a prestigious group of... shall we say legend hunters. We specialize in the unusual - mysterious beings, legends, and lore. You have a ghost story, we'll check it out. Hear a bump in the night; we'll record it. Have a family folklore, we'll hunt it. We are the the League Of Researching Everything Strange. L.O.R.E.S. for short. Along with my two field agents; Ima Gohner and Willy Survivit, we investigate cases from around the globe.

Due to an increase in paranormal activities world wide, we have found our resources stretched thin. We are looking to enlist some new field agents in your area to help us research the strange and the unusual. Do you posses a sixth sense? Do you want to prove myth from reality? Are you intrigued by the unexplainable? Then join us my friends as we embark on adventures of the mysterious kind. Come and be part L.O.R.E.S. today and find your gateway to the unknown.<<br />

Case # GC4ME87 Hessian Hauntings

LOCATION: Springtown, PA

LEGEND: "The dominant spirit, however, that haunts this enchanted region, and seems to be commander-in-chief of all the powers of the air, is the apparition of a figure on horseback, without a head. It is said by some to be the ghost of a Hessian trooper, whose head had been carried away by a cannon-ball, in some nameless battle during the Revolutionary War, and who is ever and anon seen by the country folk hurrying along in the gloom of night, as if on the wings of the wind. His haunts are not confined to the valley, but extend at times to the adjacent roads, and especially to the vicinity of a church at no great distance ... the body of the trooper having been buried in the churchyard, the ghost rides forth to the scene of battle in nightly quest of his head, and that the rushing speed with which he sometimes passes along the Hollow, like a midnight blast, is owing to his being belated, and in a hurry to get back to the churchyard before daybreak." (Washington Irving, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow)

MISSION: A menacing figure riding the country side, terrorizing the locals. Looks like a job for L.O.R.E.S. Time to invesitgate these Hessian Hauntings. To solve this mystery you will need to solve six other L.O.R.E.S. case files. Do you have the fortitude to complete these tasks? Are you true L.O.R.E.S. Legend Hunter material? Don't loose your head trying to solve this one.

Three non-activated monster trackables for FTF, STF, and TTF prizes. Fenten the Frankenstain, Vinny the Vampire, and Mumford the Mummy.

Good Luck Legend Hunter!
