Lime Island State Park has nice cabins and platforms for tents that can be rented. The island has nice hiking trails, excellent fishing, great wildlife viewing and more history than can you can imagine. People have used the island for 6000 years. Some of the old kilns date back over 200 years. The islands recent history was for Lake Freighter refueling initially coal then latter using bunker fuel. The island refueling was shut down 1982 and the families that lived and worked on the island were forced to move. The island was sold to the state for $1.00 and is now a State Recreation Area and the Harbor a State Park. There is poison Ivey all over the island so while hiking and exploring the island wear appropriate foot gear and clothing.
