Cache is off of a dirt road, accessible from many directions. Terrain is flat, however it is the desert.
Wanting to continue with our tribute caches, we realized that no geocache tribute would be complete without a tribute to Helsfyr.
When we first started geocaching, we went at it with a fervor, and soon ran out of doable caches in the El Paso area. We expanded the geo-map, and saw a gold mine just 40 or so miles away in the Las Cruces area. We started working our way north, and although some were easy, we began to see a pattern. The caches by a person named Helsfyr were tougher than a lot of others, most of the time. Because of the lessons learned, we like to say that we graduated from "Helsfyr University", which made us better all-around cachers,
Within a short time we met the man, the legend, and soon realized that the man we had been cussing was pretty darn nice. It is our opinion that if not for him, caching "Cruces would have been a tad more sparse.
We made this cache with Helsfyr in mind. Please feel free to take a geocache container, some of which we modeled after Helsfyr caches that we eventually found. Pay close attention to the straws, as they are loaded and ready, just lacking a bit of cammo tape. Our cammo tape is a bit cheesy, and although we used it on the pill bottles, it just wouldn't do the straws justice. There is a nice little FTF prize, and as usual, watch out for things that stick, poke or bite. Thank you Helsfyr for enhancing our geocaching experience.
