This is a Night Cache. If you have never done one here are a few pointers:
1. Bring a flashlight!! (The brighter the better!!) I had 3 when I placed this cache if that helps you any....
2. Bring a friend, it can get spooky and creepy in the dark following the Fire Tacks.
3. You're never alone in these woods at night, the night I verified the coordinates I came across a skunk, a family of racoons, a large texas rat snake, an owl that was dive bombing me, and some bats. Be aware of your surroundings.
4. You are going to be walking over very uneven terrain........in the dark.....You will go through weeds, bushes, clime over fallen trees, and under hanging branches. Solid shoes, and long pants are very much encouraged.
5. Movement at night is always slower. Plan on spending anywhere from fourty five min to an hour and fifteen min. to finish this cache.
6. Bring a flashlight.......
Now for the fun part. Once it is dark, and you arive at the Start Point, you will find 4 directional fire tacks arranges in a Compass rose fashion, with a smaller star tack in the middle. These individual tacks are what all of the points will look like going through this night cache, all the same color (the pattern at the start does not repeat itself through the course). As your course moves through the woods the directional tacks will clue you in to direction changes. I tried to keep the fire tacks on the right hand side of you. For the most part this is true throughout the course. Keep the tacks to your right and you will be ok. So your still at the start point?? Put your back to the tree, shine your light in front of you and your off!! Follow the fire tacks ala Hansel and Gretel style through the woods. The fire tacks are spread out so cachers would not be able to complete this during the day, trust your bright flashlight. If you pass a firetack and go more than about 20 feet without seeing the next one, stop and look around for it. It might be behind one tree or a branch, step left to right a few steps to reveal it. If you have to move back to the last fire tack and move slowly till you find it.
You will know when you come to the end because you will see 2 small fire tacks on a branch hanging and two directional fire tacks on that trees trunk. Standing in front of the two directional tacks one points to the cache.......the other points to two other small tacks that show you how to get the cache.....(You should be able to figure it out once your there)
Please place the cache back how you found it and tie up any loose ends you might have........
Now that your done how do you get out?? Standing at where the cache is look NORTH, you will find fire tacks that will lead you out. You will come out near a disk golf goal and the trail, from there you just have to make it back to your vehicle. On the EXIT ONLY, the fire tacks are going to be on your LEFT. Once you pass the directional fire tack and move under a low hanging trees and look twards your left for the trail of exit tags. All of the exit tags except one are the small star and diamond shaped fire tacks.
