The chimney on top of the hill is part of the old copper works. The site is open 24 hours a day and free to use by the people of Bristol. The area has a rich history and more can be read at http://www.troopers-hill.org.uk/
Placed with permission - PLEASE TREAT THIS AREA WITH RESPECT. THERE IS NO CAUSE TO DIG, MOVE ANYTHING OR INTERFERE WITH NATURE WHILE SEEKING THIS CACHE. THE FRIENDS OF TROOPERS HILL WOULD ALSO REQUEST THAT NO BBQS ARE USED AND THAT SMOKERS TAKE GREAT CARE WITH CIGARETTE BUTTS, PARTICULARLY IN SUMMER AS THERE HAVE BEEN FIRES ON THE HILL IN THE PAST WHICH HAVE DAMAGED RARE GRASSES
This site is accessible to both wheelchairs (parking at waypoint) and buggies. However, GZ is just off the path and wheelchair users may need assistance to get there.
With plenty of on street parking in the area, this is easy to access. When parking at the waypoint listed or at N 51 27.519 W 2 32.190 you access the site via the troopers hill field. It makes a perfect picnic spot or to let kids run around or play ball games. Another entrance to the site has on street parking at N 51 27.365 W 2 31.927 - this entrance is harder going leading you up some steps with a bit of a climb but closer to GZ.
