Geocache Description:

Geocaching, like all games has rules. You are advised to know at least the geocaching basics regarding logging a cache.

This cache is one of 7 caches set along 1.9 miles of The Track, a popular footpath for dog walkers, joggers and walkers that is accessed from two points on the A4129 on the eastern side of Thame.

It is not known how long The Track has been known by this name, but local people often refer to this path as such. Much of it is a track, whereas the rest is a narrow path. For us it is of interest as when the ‘me’ part of us moved to Thame in 1989, The Track was one of the first walks the family did in the area. The path in the wood can get boggy even in summer with few alternatives, and the youngest member of the family then aged 5 boldly walked into the middle of the bog with her wellies on and managed to leave them behind, stuck in the mud! It was fun trying to re-unite her to them.

Lighthouse Thame was the name of a holiday week for children and young people in Thame and the surrounding area in the summer holiday periods. It was run by a partnership of local churches, supported by volunteers. In 2013 when the cache was placed, over 900 children attended and around 400 volunteers helped to make it a big success. There was no charge for the holiday week, but parents were asked if they were able to make a donation.

2013 was the first year that the youngest of us, when aged 5 attended, which she really enjoyed - enjoyed so much that she wanted a cache to be called by that name!

The cache is a small bison tube. During the warmer months of the year, nettles are in abundance on the approach to the cache. It is advisable to wear gloves, and not wear shorts! The terrain level has been increased due to this. Please bring your own writing means as there is no pen or pencil in the container.

Parking is recommended at the waypoint shown, but avoid weekends in the rugby season as it can be very busy with parking for those visiting National League Division 1 champions, Chinnor RFC.
