Geocache Description:

Tiwai Point lies at the entrance to Bluff Harbour on the southern coast of the South Island of New Zealand. A spit which extends from the western end of the Awarua Plain, it lies between Awarua Bay to the north and Foveaux Strait to the south.

It is famous for the Tiwai Point Aluminium Smelter, one of the largest industrial facilities in New Zealand.

The cache is placed in Tiwai Pensulia Scenic Reserve, and can be approached in a number of ways.  From an access road resulting in a 5-10 minute walk (depending on tidal conditions) or from closer to the road, parking near the pylons which results in a longer walk.  Or if you more adventure minded by sailing or kayaking across the bay. Please stay to the coastal approach, cache is approx 1.5-2m off the shoreline.  Make sure you replace the container back where found securely.

Happy caching!!
