Snake Path: The Tail Traditional Cache

The “Snake Path” is a path that joins Craighalbert and Craigmarloch in Cumbernauld. At the top of the path is the Craighalbert Centre, home to the Scottish Centre for Children with Motor Impairments. The bottom of the path is a short walk from the small retail park at Craigmarloch, home to a supermarket, pub/restaurant, takeaways ... and a car park!

Created in 2010, the path adds a few twists and turns (literally!) to a route that would otherwise have been pretty bland. The path is fully accessible, and even the picnic benches are designed to be wheelchair-friendly.

This cache is one of several we’ve hidden in or near Cumbernauld Community Park. They’re all reached from well-maintained paths, with the final 10-20m being rougher going. Why not link up the caches and enjoy a walk through this huge green space right in the middle of town?
