Welcome to St. John's Hollow

Get your suntan lotion, lighter, cash for concessions, and don't forget your concert tickets. You are about to take a trip back into time and see some of the biggest musical acts to perform in the Tiffin area.
In 1978-1979, St. John's Hollow hosted some of the most popular musical acts of it's time. Some of these acts included:
The Beach Boys

The Oak Ridge Boys

Walter Eagen and Black Jack

Leon Russell, John Hartford, Black Oak Arkansas, Pure Praire League, and a Bluegrass Festival.
But without exception, the biggest show took place on Saturday, August 5, 1978.

By 1978, Journey had reinvented themselves with a more pop sound by adding lead singer, Steve Perry, to the band. They had recently released their biggest selling album to date, Infinity. Charting at #21 on the Billboard charts, the album featured some of their biggest hits such as "Wheel In The Sky", "Lights", and "Feeling That Way". A Fleetwood Mac show in Cleveland that day had been cancelled. So, many concert goers changed their plans and came to Tiffin for the show. An estimated 20,000 people were in attendance.
Note: If you look on page 13 of the 2006 CD re-issue of Infinity, you will see Tiffin's concert date along with many, many others.
The opening act was Robert Palmer. He was out promoting his recent album, Double Fun. It was his highest charting album up to that point (#21) and included the top 20 hit, "Every Kinda People". Unfortunately, his portion of the program was cancelled due to illness. Frank Carillo was brought in to fill his spot and was promoting his recent album, "Rings Around The Moon".
The second act was Pablo Cruise. They were touring with their fouth and most successful album, Worlds Away. Reaching #6 on the charts, this strong album featured the hits "Love Will Find A Way", "Don't Want To Live Without It", and "I Go To Rio".
Enough music history, now about the cache...
It is very important that you park at the waypoint located in the area by the old dam. Do NOT park in the alley way leading to the cache. It is a shared alley way with another land owner and the visibility is bad if you try to pull out of the alley onto CR6. Do not stray too far West of GZ or East of the alley way, as this is private land. The cache container is a little unusual and is located in an area that all concert goers would have known quite well. There are plenty of mosquitoes and poison ivy for everyone. Cache during daylight hours only. The cache is placed with permission of the landowner. Have fun!
