Geocache Description:

At 1148m Mt. Merino is one of the higher peaks along the Lamington NP caldera ridge. At 22km return, it's a long, but relatively easy walk along graded tracks with no major gradients to tackle. You will be rewarded with arguably the best views south towards the Tweed and Limpinwood valleys.

Park at the top carpark at Binna Burra and follow the border track passing Coomera Seat and past the Mt. Hobwee/Wagawn junction until you reach the caldera ridgeline. Turn right and continue until you come to the Mt. Merino track. Head up to the the main lookout and enjoy the spectacular views. At the published coordinates, which is at the lookout, you will find a small tree/shrub with an alluminium Griffith University research tag attached (there are a few of these you may spot on the way). Get the numbers off this tag to work out the location of the cache, which is outside the National Park boundary. Take normal bushwalking precautions, plenty of water and food with you. Allow at least 6 hours return at a good pace. GZ is at: S28 1A.BCD E153 1E.FGH Where, reading numbers from the top of the tag:- A=5th number down. B=6th. C=1st. D=10th. E=5th. F=1st. G=7th. H=10th. Checksum: A+B+C+D+E+F+G+H=29
