On March 12, 1912, Juliette Gordon low organized the first group of Girl Scouts in Savannah, Ga. Girl Scouts of the USA, (GSUSA), was chartered by the US Congress on March 16, 1950. Girl Scouting is open to all girls from kindergarten through high school. More than 50 million women in the US have enjoyed Girl Scouting during their childhood. Today there are 3.2 million girl members and 890,000 adult members working primarily as volunteers.
