X Marks The Spot ~ 3 ~ Brampton Mile Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

HairyHobbitFeet: With regret we have decided to archive x marks the spot :(

The gateway has been totally cleared now and it looks like it has become an active thoroughfare, so it would make the cache much more vulnerable to muggles. Considering we have had to replace twice recently too.

Thanks to everyone who has found this cache and enjoyed it enough to award favourite points, we appreciate every single one :)

Happy caching! x x

Geocache Description:

We placed this cache here because the gate seems to have no current purpose and we wondered where it originally lead to. The building to the left was once the Vicarage attached to St Thomas Church further up the road. The curiously small building to the right was once part of a larger building with a workyard behind it backing up to the river hipper.

Beware of long and short haired muggles alike! It would be much better to cache here after 6.30pm or on a Sunday. The cache container can be very easily removed from its position and is accessible by all. BYOP.

EDIT...NB Container has now been updated/improved!!!

Please remove container before retrieving the log

This series of caches is named after a well known pub crawl, known locally as ‘The Brampton Mile’. Once there were dozens of pubs along this stretch of Chatsworth Road. Over the years, many have closed or been converted to other businesses, however the tradition of the Brampton mile still exists. The caches themselves are not associated with, or actually placed in the vicinity of any pubs.

Car parking is available at various places along Chatsworth Road and side roads. Be aware of any parking restrictions, double yellow lines and resident parking. This is a busy road and can be difficult to cross due to high volumes of traffic, please use crossings where available. There will be muggles of all varieties. Stealth required! Identify your target and choose your moment to retrieve with care!

The caches can be done as a series, or as single driveby finds. Caches 1,2 and 4 are on the north side of the road, cache 3 is on the south side. You can do the caches in any order. We have tried to make them more than ‘just nanos’ by hopefully choosing interesting locations and cache containers. Where we can we have provided a little history and maybe a pinch of humour!
