Front of the Loyal Theatre as Faith Tabernacle

The Loyal was a small theatre that was built during the time right-before the Great Depression but had high-hopes to stand for a long time to come.

It was a nice little neighborhood movie house and was able to seat nearly 500 patrons for any given show.

The second-story included living quarters for either tenants or possibly the owner to keep-watch over this tiny gem of an entertainment spot.

After a few short years, however, the Great Depression took its toll on many businesses as well as the families that would attend shows and the Loyal would close after only 14 years in existance.

The theatre was converted into a church (see above photo) for a time, and then later sold then remodeled, and would no longer be a theatre.ย  Other businesses such as machine shops and Auto Parts stores would take the place of the theatre, but the little bits of architecture that made it the Loyal Theatre would still remain.

Later, a night club and auto repair would call this little building home and a visitor to the Shop told of the Projection Booth still being there in 1979 and the owner at the time not even realizing what this building had once been.

Recent photo of the building

Today, the building still stands...a quiet and simple reminder to things that were built to last.
The Loyal Theatre was a wonderful part of Metro Detroit...and is what makes it part of Detroit Cinema History.

IF you have any more information or details on this theatre,
please email me and i will include it in the description.
