HISTORY. In the Šiauliai first Institute of higher education (Šiauliai Pedagogical Institute) operated since 1958 in Šiauliai. In 1961, Agrobiological Station of Pedagogical was founded. Goals of the station werw as follows: students training to manage school gardens and to popularize a nature protection.
Šiauliai University was established in 1997. In 1997 Botanic Garden of Šiauliai University in locus of Agrobiological Station was founded (area - 4.48 ha) too.
In 2006, Botanical Garden of Šiauliai University had up to 2500 taxon in it collections. Botanical Garden collaborates and continues seed exchange with 484 world Botanical Gardens. Administration of our Garden visited Botanical Gardens, parks, and other natural objects in Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Canada, Russia, Spain, Scotland, Japan.
When the collections was enriched, territory ordered, creating applied expositions, we extended public functions, charachteristic to Botanical Garden such as: recreation, enviromental education. Friend club of Botanical Garden joined nature amateurs, florists-practic and growers. Club members with Garden administration support organized iris exhibition for citizens in assumption day.
