I've been wanting to locate this crows nest fire lookout site for sometime and today was the perfect day to get it done.
This crows nest was erected in 1929 and has been abandoned for many years. The upper ladder is still in tack and there are two guy wires that are firmly attached to the tree and to large boulders. You can still see some old boards where the crows nest was on top. There are also some old boards on the ground nearby. The view from Rocky Butte incredible. There is a U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Forest Service Benchmark, dated 1924 on top of Rocky Butte.
