War Memorial Gardens Traditional Cache

This cache is, in time, intended to be part of a circular route along what Bexley Council call "Walk 4 - Belvedere at work".  According to their leaflet "Belvedere - Explore the river Thames and Erith marshes by bicycle or on foot" Walk 4 is 2.9 miles long and should take around 1 hour and 10 minutes on foot.  They class the difficulty level as Easy as the entire route is on paved paths or roads.

Erected by Callender's Cable & Construction Company, this war memorial commemorates employees who died as serving soldiers during the First and Second World Wars.

Sadly in 2012 it was targeted by thieves trying to steal the metal plaques carrying the inscriptions.  Fortunately they failed and the former employees who tend the memorial and gardens made an application to the War Memorials Trust for it to be marked with SmartWater as part of the In Memoriam 2014 project.  For more information on the project or war memorials in general please visit their website www.warmemorials.org

The cache is a now something more natural looking, although will look out of place if you spot it. It is not placed on the war memorial.
