Portius Park is a nice piece of bushland tucked away in suburbia. It is connected to Pryor Park in the West and Kitty's Creek Reserve to the East. Kitty's Creek runs through Portius Park and flows into the Lane Cove River.
If you entering the from the emergency services access point on Melba Drive, this route was known locally as 'Wombat Way', due to the number of wombats that used to live in Portius Park. Coming from the Fox Road entrance, this was known as 'Echidna Path'.
There are bushcare groups that work in the park on weekends and it can be a high muggle area at times, so stealth is always required. Also, try to stick to the 'desire paths' to avoid damaging the scrub.
