Geocache Description:

The starting coordinates for the cache will bring you to the final resting place of Raymond Joseph "Jim" Yellig. Jim was known as the REAL SANTA from Santa Claus land. Jim began playing Santa Claus while stationed aboard the USS New York during World War 1 in 1914. While docked in Brooklyn the crew decided to host a Christmas party for underprivileged children. Since Jim was born near the village of Santa Claus, Indiana he was selected to play the part of the jolly old elf. He was so moved by the children's happiness that he prayed "If you get me through this war, Lord, I will forever be Santa Claus. In 1946 Jim became the resident Santa at Santa Claus Land, the world's first theme park. He continued this position for the next 38 years. To this day Jim still holds the record for having the most children vist him while playing the roll of Santa. For more information click on the related web page link. To get to the final simply project a waypoint that is 368 feet away at a heading of 180 degrees and look really low. As always, be respectful and no night caching.
