Geocache Description:

This is another in the Robertson Lake Bluffs series of caches. Take the yellow marked trail from the parking area / trailhead on the Robertson Lake Road. Take Hwy 17 North from Sault Ste. Marie for approx 27 km to Old Hwy 17 Road, then turn right (east) on Robertson Lake Road and travel 4.9 km until you reach trailhead at ( N 46* 46.036 W 84* 17.718 ) where there is limited parking near beginning of a long steep trail.

Cache consists of a medium sized, camoed, screw-top plastic bottle containing logbook, pencil and loot. Access to this cache is pretty much limited to the snow-free season because of snow conditions and the fact that the Robertson Lake Road is not plowed in the winter. Follow the yellow, tree-tag-blazed trail to the vicinity of the geocache which is located only a few metres from the trail. Allow several hours for the round trip hike to this and the other caches located on this mountain. It is advisable to wear sturdy footwear for the rugged climb and to take bear spray and insect repellant with you. Take lots of drinking water and an easy-to-carry snack. This is a strenuous hike not recommended for people with cardio, respiratory, other medical conditions or bad knees which make hill climbing hazardous. Don't even think of taking ANY wheeled vehicles, wagons, walkers, strollers etc. up there! If it won't fit in a packsack, leave it behind. Good luck and don't forget your camera, especially in the Autumn when the colours are most impressive. Other geocaches are located farther up the trail(s). If you choose to proceed farther up to the "Bluffs", be extremely cautious of taking young children and pets as there are totally unguarded SHEER DROP-OFF CLIFF-FACES at both lookout points and near those caches. There are only a few occasional muggles in this remote area but it is highly advised to carry bear spray, especially in Spring. Congratulations to ssmtrvlr for FTF!
