Geocache Description:

This is one in a series of caches based on hit songs of the 1960s. The song Please Mr. Postman was the first #1 single on Barry Gordy's new Tamla/Motown label and it reached that point late in 1961. This letterbox/hybrid cache is located off Highway 10 just south of Brandon and contains a logbook, pencil, stamp and stamp-pad. Please stamp your stamp in our logbook and use our stamp to stamp yours, then return stamp and ink pad to the container when done.

!!!There is high muggle traffic at various times of the day so stealth is required!!!

Please Mr. Postman was the debut single by the female group The Marvelettes and brought them instant fame as it shot up the charts. It tells the story of a girl waiting to hear from her boyfriend who is away at war as the postman passes her mailbox every day with no word. It has continued to be a popular song and has been recorded by The Beatles on their second album, With the Beatles, (a highlight is John Lennon's raspy voice singing "de-liver the letter, the sooner the better") and reached #1 again in 1975 in a rather square version by The Carpenters. It was featured in Martin Scorsese's 1973 movie Mean Streets and has seen versions as diverse as disco, rap, and Japanese as well as a number of parodies on TV and records.

Please Mr. Postman

Wait!!
Oh yes, wait a minute Mr. Postman
Wait!!
Waaaiiit Mr. Postman

Please Mister Postman, look and see
Oh, yeah
If there's a letter in your bag for me?
Please, please Mr. Postman
You know it's been a long time
Oh, yeah
Since I've heard from that boyfriend of mine

There must be some word today
From my boyfriend so far away
Please Mr. Postman look and see
Is there a letter, a letter for me?

I've been standing here waiting Mr. Postman
Sooo, so patiently
For just a card, or just a letter
Saying he's returning home to me...

So many days you passed me by
You saw the tears standing in my eye
You wouldn't stop to make me feel better
By leaving me a card or a letter...

You better wait a minute
Wait a minute
Oh, you better wait a minute
Please, please Mr. Postman
Please check and see
Just one more time for me

You better wait, wait a minute
Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute
Please Mr.Postman
Deliver the letter
The sooner the better

Wait a minute, wait a minute
Wait a minute, please Mr. Postman
Wait a minute, wait a minute

As with all of the Hits of the 60s series, some aspect of the song is significant. Enjoy the letterbox and exchange stamps if you wish.
