This is how I remember it!
A story to tell, and a tale to speak! From these lips sure n true, is of a man who we all knew!
Everyone called him "Uncle Willy"! No relative to anyone, juz called him Uncle Willy. He took a horseshoe to the face once I've been told, might be why he had only one eye. Wisdom from this cowboy was like drinking from a cool mountain stream. Fresh, clean pure an sumthin felt deep inside whislt he spoke. I was young n green as a sping time willow tree. Ride n boss hooked us up together then. We have pushed cattle, horses, n one time in Wyoming even rounded up Sheep. Lean man, rough strong hands, that could hold a rope sure n true. No matter the task or the weather, if n the boss made a request (nice way of give n ya n order ta do it). Uncle Willy never complained. Uncle Willy was a good man, never married nor even fell in Love that I know of n I knowed him a long time. Broke his big toe on his right foot, one time when a draft horse with winter shoes stepped on it. I heard it just "Snap" loud n clear, I'd a cussed fer sure. Well he Said " long way to the Doctor, guess if won't take my boot off for a day of two while it heals up." Heal up it did, it laid at an odd angle across the top of other toes. No whisky for the pain, juz wore them boots fer a week. So here look n at this place reminds me of this Man we all called "Uncle Willy".
