Geocache Description:

This traditional cache is located on the bank of the Da Gama Dam.

We recommend using a canoe, kayak or sailboat to reach this cache - this cache is not meant to be a park-and-grab

Kamp Nakuphi is a Voortrekker camp (the Afrikaans equivelant of The Scouts) that takes place annually at The Forest Sailing Club at Da Gama Dam. The camp aims to provide high-school learners with an action-filled week where learners can earn one of the following badges:

Grd 8 Freshwater-science

Grd 9 Rowing

Grd 10/11 Sailing

Grd 11/12 Snorkelling

This cache was placed by the 2013 Grade 9 learners while completing the Rowing badge. For this reason this cache was placed in a location that requires some form of water-transportation; kayaking is highly recommended.

There is a road close to the cache but it's not reccomended to make use of it - it's in very bad condition and you'll require a 4x4. Furthermore the road is owned by The Department of Forestry and its use can be restricted at times.

Entrance to the dam should be through The Forest Sailing Club's clubhouse (see coordinates). A small entrance fee is charged to non-members.

We hope you enjoy the cache!
