Geocache Description:

The cache is a 35mm film container at the base of a tree. It contains a log sheet only. No space for tradeables. BYOP

When I was growing up, Kragga Kamma was considered to be far out of town. Over time smallholdings were developed into fully serviced residential suburbs. The first plots in Beverley Grove were sold in the early 1970's. Plots were large, but expensive. Friends advised me against buying property so far out of town.

In 1974 I paid R12000.00 for a 1876 sq.m. plot. By 1980 most of the plots had already been turned onto family homes.

One of the selling points was that it was not far from the drive-in cinema on Cape Road. Today the drive-in is long gone, but instead a large shopping mall, which will include a cinema complex, is being built even further away from the city centre.

The 'ruins' appear to be the remains of a driveway entrance to one of the smallholdings. A hinge can still be seen in the one remaining gate post.
