Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Challenge! We often stop at rest stops on our way to visit family in Oregon. I made a rest stop booklist years ago and try and keep it updated for future trips since rest stop caches seem to get archived and published quite frequently.

Rest areas are open 24 hours a day, offering a variety of services and conveniences and are located within an hour's travel time of each other. Rest areas provide modern restroom facilities, telephones, picnic areas, pet exercise zones, paved parking areas, fresh drinking water and of course geocaching.

The Washington department owns and operates 48 Safety Rest Areas with 28 located on the Interstate System. Oregon Department of Transportation operates 17 along the Interstate with additional rest stops managed by Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.


• To complete this challenge you must log a find at 24 different Rest Areas/Welcome Centers located in either Washington and/or Oregon.

• Once you have logged a cache at 24 Rest Areas/Welcome Centers in Washington/Oregon, create a public bookmark that shows your qualifying finds and the date each was found or include the date and GC number for the caches in your found log AND the name of the rest stop each qualifies for. Please include this challenge at the top of the booklist. You may find more than one cache at a rest area but only one will count toward your total.

• Previous finds at WA/OR Rest Areas/Welcome centers count!

• I have made a booklist of all the rest stops in WA/OR here. If you use it for your PQ please filter out your multiple location caches! Only use one cache per rest stop but you may use different directions of the rest stops.
