Geocache Description:

This is a site that a old one room school use to set on.  This school was named after Joseph Sand. This will be a easy park and grab. BYOP.

Joseph Sand was born in Bavaria, Germany on March 9, 1811. Joseph learned the blacksmith trade in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1838, leaving Germany on the ship "Poland", a sailing vessel, and arriving at New York City on June 7, 1838. Joseph worked at his trade of blacksmithing in several states before settling in Atchison County Missouri near Sonora, Missouri about 1840. He lived near Sonora for about 20 years. In 1860 Joseph rented his Missouri farm and moved to Nebraska, which was a territory at that time. He located in Otoe County near Nebraska City, purchasing 160 acres of land in Section 22 (later the Roll farm) in Four Mile Precinct.
