Geocache Description:

AN ANCIENT PARK in an ANCIENT CITY

Back in 1914, this area was a thriving metropolis, called "LAWSONVILLE."   For a while, Lawsonville was the third largest city in California. My parents lived here for a long time, and my father was an alderman for many years on the city council. My mother was a well-known opera diva, and often traveled to Europe. Their hardware store was aptly called, "Lawson's Hardware." It was the biggest business in town.

Well, in 1915, this all changed. The new freeway, which was supposed to go through town, instead bypassed the town. Boy did that change things. My parents tried branching out, and selling other things in the hardware store, but it didn't work; in fact, just about all the businesses went bankrupt.

There's not much left of Lawsonville today. But if you look closely, you might still be able to find some old roads or houses. If you look on the internet, you can read all about this "lost town."

Anyway, when I was a young lad, this site was a huge playground. My nanny brought me here every day after my Latin lessons. One day, I was monkeying around here, and decided to place a geocache. I don't know if it's still here--can you check?
