Geocache Description:

Cache 3 in [RTB] Road to Buckenderra Series

I spent my entire childhood travelling to Buckenderra at least 6 times a year with my avid fly fishing family. It is without a doubt my favourite place in the world and I would like to share it with fellow cache hunters. For now they are all traditional caches - eventually there will be a final puzzle cache located at Buckenderra with the others each holding a piece of the coordinates.

Middlingbank is a very popular fishermen's spot. Previous droughts have pushed the water back a bit however it is still a beauitul place to visit, have a picnic and drop in a line or two (for rainbow and brown trout). This location shows you Lake Eucumbene (pronounced 'you come been') for the first time.

Eucumbene is a man made lake on the Eucumbene River and was created by damming the river as part of the Snowy Mountains Scheme (www.snowyhydro.com.au). Once the Eucumbene Dam was completed in 1958 the town of Old Adaminaby was inundated by Lake Eucumbene after several buildings were moved to New Adaminaby - others were demolished or left to be washed over. Two towns were flooded in the course of the scheme construction, Old Adaminaby and Jindabyne. Lake Eucumbene is famous for some of the best Rainbow and Brown trout fishing in Australia.

Currently the lake is only at 49% of it's 480,000 ml capacity.
