Kato Vrisi
“Kato Vrisi” (the lower spring) with 14 springs, for many years before Levidi got its own water- supply system, was the main water source for its residents. It is noteworthy that completed with the financial assistance mainly of residents.
Some reminiscences :
While playing in the spacious village square or out side their homes, every morning and night they saw the older men and women, guiding the animals loaded with barrels. It was a long distance to Kato Vrisi and the households needed enough water for people, and animals to drink, to cook, to wash etc
The start and return of the water-bearers created a scene of revelry, a festive occasion. The parade of the young wives and more often by the young maidens offered a wonderful sight. Men came out of the stores and stops to enjoy the daily parade of women, by nature aesthetic, as they were dressed with the finest and most beautiful and colorful skirts and dresses that the domestic loom could weave. Even the white kerchiefs which they wore with the playful and sportive flare imparted to those beautiful girls an air of freshness.
In the spring another atmosphere was created. It was a place where the news was disseminated, and where the young set communicated, and quite naturally, secret romances were woven. Of course there was no lack of petty quarrels for priorities in obtaining water. There also was an exhibition of courtesy, respect and helpfulness at the spring. If some old woman or youngster was unable to load the water barrels, they were given willing assistance especially when matchmaking was being contemplated and had to be successfully concluded!
Some such reminiscences are relived off and on in the fancy of the nostalgic immigrants, who, after many decades of hard labor and toil return to their birthplace. Now at last the blessed and abundant water has been brought into every home of the village and the times have changed. Now the young matrons and maidens of that long-gone era in the town have grown older and have grandchildren. But they cannot forget the times when the vigor of youth would not think of the burdens and toil of carrying and transporting water.
The cache
The cache is a small box and contains the geocaching declaration sheet and the logbook. No pen inside.
Κάτω Βρύση
Η Κάτω Βρύση με τους 14 κρουνούς για πολλά χρόνια πριν υδροδοτηθεί το Λεβίδι ήταν η κύρια πηγή ύδρευσης των κατοίκων . Αξιοσημείωτο είναι ότι ολοκληρώθηκε με την χρηματική συνδρομή κυρίως των κατοίκων.
Κάποιες θύμησες
Παίζοντας στην μεγάλη πλατεία ή έξω από τα σπίτια τους, έβλεπαν κάθε πρωί και κάθε βράδυ άνδρες και γυναίκες να οδηγούν τα ζώα τους φορτωμένα βαρέλες. Η απόσταση δεν ήταν μικρή ως την Κάτω Βρύση και τα νοικοκυριά χρειάζονταν αρκετό νερό για ανθρώπους, ζωντανά, μαγείρεμα, πλύσιμο κλπ
Το ξεκίνημα και η επάνοδος των νεροκουβαλητών δημιουργούσε την εικόνα σωστού ξεφαντώματος. Η παρέλαση, των νεαρών κοριτσιών της παντρειάς, χάριζε στην όραση φανταχτερό θέαμα. Ο κόσμος έβγαινε στα μαγαζιά για να απολαύσει την καθημερινή παρέλαση του γυναικείου φίλου, που από φυσικού του φιλόκαλος, ήταν ντυμένο με τα καλύτερα φουστάνια που είχε υφάνει στο σπιτικό αργαλειό. Ακόμη και τα λευκά τσεμπέρια που φορούσαν με χάρη έδιναν στις όμορφες πιότερο αέρα.
Εκεί στην Κάτω Βρύση δημιουργείτο μια άλλη ατμόσφαιρα. Κυκλοφορούσαν τα νέα , επικοινωνούσε η νέα γενιά και φυσικό ήταν να πλέκονται και κρυφά ειδύλλια. Δεν έλειπαν βέβαια και οι μικροί καυγάδες για την προτεραιότητα της υδροληψίας. Αλλά και η επίδειξη ανωτερότητας είχε την θέση της εκεί, αν κάποια γερόντισσα ή κάποιος μικρός δεν μπορούσε να φορτώσει, ή όταν κάποιο συζητούμενο συνοικέσιο έπρεπε να πάρει ευτυχή κατάληξη !
Κάτι τέτοιες θύμησες έρχονται και ξανάρχονται στους νοσταλγούς μετανάστες, που ύστερα από δεκαετίες σκληρής βιοπάλης, επισκέπτονται πότε-πότε τον τόπο γέννησης τους. Τώρα πια το ευλογημένο και άφθονο νερό έχει διοχετευθεί μέσα στα σπίτια και οι καιροί άλλαξαν. Τώρα οι τότε νεαρές γέρασαν και έχουν εγγόνια. Δεν μπορεί όμως παρά να θυμούνται νοσταλγικά τους παλιούς καιρούς, που τα νιάτα δεν λογάριαζαν τους κόπους της μεταφοράς του νερού.
Η κρύπτη
Η κρύπτη έναι ένα μικρό κουτί, και περιέχει το logbook και την δήλωση για το geocaching. Δεν έχει στυλό.
