Geocache Description:

A short walk visiting 3 'wells' and a lime kiln in Silverdale. A lovely wood, crag and meadow.

From Bank Well, continue along the path, dropping down to Lambert's Meadow (NT). A very flat and sometimes damp 'meadow' that might once have been a lake. A spongy path leads to a cute footbridge over the drainage channel. On the other side turn left (SE) and continue to the end of the Meadow.

Just beyond the gate is Burton Well. It captures the water issuing from a spring in the base of the cliff. Used for washing sheep or something? Did it fill up at times? Quite an odd structure and I'm not sure how it was used. The walls are quite high compared with the well at Woodwell.

After the well, continue south along the path with a dramatic limestone cliff on the left, until you reach an entrance on the right into the wood, owned by the NT. A short way in and there is 'pavement' on the left. The cache is only a few metres off the path, small round L&L. Co-ordinates are as good as we can get given the trees.
