Geocache Description:

We will assemble in the parking lot here at 5pm - the Event will go to 5:15pm and then poof, we will vanish.

We will be launching our own Travel Bug into space on a real rocket at 5:10pm on the dot!

About the geocache special day:

From the desk of Eric Schudiske

Geocaching is honored to be returning to space in the form of a Geocaching Travel Bug
aboard a Nov. 6th rocket launch to the International Space Station. American astronaut Rick Mastracchio will be carrying the Travel Bug and 11 hitchhikers into orbit for his 6 month stay aboard the ISS. Mastracchio will be using the Travel Bug as an educational tool to help teach students around the world about geography and provide other educational lessons.

Geocaching HQ will be partnering with Mastracchio to help further his educational mission and our mission to inspire everyday explorers to experience the world around them. To that end, Geocaching HQ will encourage geocachers around the world to join the excitement by hosting events on Nov 6th to watch the launch, and follow Mastracchhio’s adventure. When Mastracchio arrives at the ISS, he’ll also be logging the universe’s most elusive FTF. The ISS geocache has never been logged in person.

Every geocacher who attends this Geocaching Event will be awarded a “Geocaching in Space” souvenir.
