My neighbor hood is what I like to call a "tweener". Yelp calls it Irving Park. Community organizations have tried to call it Albany Park. Heck during the last real estate boom agents tried to call it North Center West or Independence Park, even though an Independence park already exists on the south side. In the decade or so that I've been living in this great little corner of Chicago bounded by Irving Park on the North, Elston on the West, Roscoe on the South and California on the East a group of my neighbors and friends have called it "The Guinness Triangle".
One of the things I love about living in Chicago is being able to walk to almost everything one could need within a few blocks of your home. In addition to the public transportation, grocery and retail stores, restaurants this sliver of Chicago offers lovers of Guinness three of the best pours in the city. You youngsters might not remember before the micro-brew revolution your public drinking options were limited to awful domestics or very occasionally Guinness. And to find a good pour of Irish goodness amidst the Old Styles and Stroh's of the world was a rare and refreshing miracle. There are three spots in this tiny area that have led to this local sub-neighborhood nickname. Also each host is a frequent victim of "tagging". As an active resident each of these hosts has also been the recipient of "buffing"... by me. So I won't just be monitoring these caches, I've been taking care of the hosts for years. Please enjoy my wonderful neighborhood. I sure do. : )
Welcome to my home... The Guinness Triangle.
