It's long been rumoured that this disused quarry was a cover for covert operations. Curious looking concrete buildings and silos are spread throughout the site. Phantom lights have often been sighted here at night, some strobing or pulsating.
I once ventured at night some years ago into this secret area. I headed towards the quarry face which had massive steel doors set into it. There was an iridescent glow hovering around them and a faint smell of ozone in the air. There were weird symbols on the door which I didn't recognise. At that moment I saw flashlights in the distance which were heading in my direction. I took a quick photo of the symbols and then hightailed it out of the place...
