Geocache Description:

The #2 shaft of the Trimountain series.  Cache is set at the hoisthouse.  The #2 shaft was started in the winter of 1900 and didn't hit copper till 200'. The costs of the shaft (with no profit) almost shut down the company.  The hoist was a 2500 hp Nordberg direct connected duplex hoist with a 18' in diameter conical drum.  NW of the hoist you can find the ruins of the rock/shaft house.  It is in newer concrete, because the #2 shafthouse was rebuilt, once in 1902, again in 1923.

I started this series by driving in from 7th ave and parking here at the #2.  I then walked the various roads and trails to the others.  Cars can make the drive in with care.
