Looking across this creek now you will see the remnants of an old road leading to a small meadow with new pines taking in. This was once a cabin and home to Bob and Twila. It was a quaint place with a large old wooden garage and an outhouse, both aged red in color. As far as I remember, the grass was always cut and the area maintained. In most hunting seasons deer or elk hung from the trees (Often smaller than what was told around the fire!)
I never knew Bob and Twila as they lived before my memory, but I will always remember this place. After they passed away their home became kind of a hunting cabin. During hunting seasons, my Grandpa, father, cousins, relatives and friends (old and new) might meet up here and tell stories and drink around the campfire before the next days hunt. Good times to be had all around!
For about 15 years, the cabin and surrounding area was maintained by their Son and neighbor, Rick. Around 2008, the Forest Service asked for the cabin to be demolished and let the forest reclaim the land. That is what you see before you today.
Perhaps that was for the best? I do not rightly know. I do know that I will always remember this place. The laughs. The beer, deer and elk. The good times :)
Be mindful of the houndstongue seeds! They can be atrocious in this area!
