Ormeau Demographics
Ormeau is a northern suburb of the Gold Coast positioned midway between Brisbane and Surfers Paradise. Ormeau covers both sides of the M1 Motorway with the most northern area named Norfolk Village which sits above the lower portion known as Ormeau Hills
Ormeau was originally a French name which means ‘young elm’. It came from Ormeau House the estate of Major A. J. Boyd, a sugar planter of the 1860s.
Ormeau is one of those rare suburbs where the word "community" actually means something. Originally populated by farmers the laid back nature and willingness to help others comes naturally to most making it a very special place to live. You can call anywhere 'home' but it doesnt mean you feel that sense of belonging. The ability to visit the local shops and say hello to at least a handful of people you know is priceless and as the area continues to grow we hope to keep these core values in place.
