Sucker hole is a colloquial term referring to a short spate of good wheather that "suckers" sailors into leaving port just in time for a storm to resume at full force.
It can also refer to breaks in cloud cover, which lead astronomers into trying to make observations, only to have the cloud close in again.
When I reffer to a sucker hole in caching, this is the place. A wide open meadow with a great view of the Peak. It is a peaceful place that invites you to sit and enjoy the surroundings, even have an enjoyable lunch. When you look at the Peak you see that you are almost there and you can't wait to be sitting on top. Then you put the pack back on and take off, but that nice little path is short and sweet. Get ready for the real work out, you are about to head straight up. Don't be looking for any switchbacks there are none, one foot in front of the other, over and over. I am excited to tell all you suckers, it is so worth it. Enjoy!!!
