Geocache Description:

Small film container containing pencil and log sheet. Muggles might watch you from above.Ensure you lock your car before you explore.

Mutorashanga quarry is a disused old mine quarry that is full of crystal clear blue water. The quarry is about 350 metres long, 150 metres wide and about 30 metres deep. It is used for recreational purposes including scuba diving, swimming and now Geocaching. Take the Kariba road out of Harare, and drive through the majestic Great Dyke pass. Cross the railway line and shops and take the first right turn onto the Mutorashanga road. This road takes you along the Great Dyke. Proceed through the small village and turn left off the tar road onto a dirt road at S 17 04.236 E030 42.524 There is a parking area on the right about 400 metres from the tar road. Ensure you lock your car, take time to admire the view of the Crystal blue water and all the old mine workings. Walk down the stairs and look out for muggles! There is a pencil and paper to log your find. Spend the day swimming and enjoying the outdoor, If you are a scuba diver take your tanks and kit as there is an old aeroplane that has been placed at the bottom for divers to explore. If you are returning to Harare, you can take a very scenic route back. Return the same way you came, but at the village turn left at the cross road, this will take you back through the Great Dyke. Get to a T junction and turn right until another T junction at Mazowe, turn right again and this will take you back to Harare.
