This project was completed by a scout in 1995, a member of Troop 380 in Boalsburg, The project involved, lot clearing of bushes and debris, planting of new evergreen & deciduous trees, and created walking paths around the park.
What is Cache to Eagle? The first Cache to Eagle series began in Marin County,CA, as a series of 12 public geocaches hidden at the sites of eagle projects. Each cache location has a clue in addition to the normal cache contents – each clue is a point of the Scout Law. When a person finds all 12 clues (they are in random order) they'll receive a prize, or in this case, a smiley. Eagle service projects will be seen by thousands of geocaching members of the community. The Scouts get their work highlighted and can visit sites for ideas if they haven't done a project yet. Everyone wins here!
This park was donated by the Harris Township Lions Club, the eagle scout project was the first step in turning the land into the park you see today. The cache is under a huge weeping willow, which was significant to the eagle scout, during this project. But thats a story for another campfire....
