wildniagara: The Niagara Parks are making no attempt to repair this wall and storm season is only a couple months away again.

For those who tried and failed it was a black magnetic key holder which fit perfectly in line with the bracing that held the hinge of the metal gate.

Thanks to all who came.out and tried, failed or gave a favourite point. Time to put this one to bed.

CONGRAT BUSHSHAUN ON FTF

So easy you can grab it right out from under a muggles nose and replace it without ever being detected.

There is no need to climb over the wall or gate. Cache is easily accessible from the trail.

On Dec 2nd 1857 the steam ferry "International" left Buffalo for Fort Erie on its inaugural trip. This side-wheeler was built for the "Buffalo & Lake Huron Railroad" to transport trains across the Niagara River. It had a wooden hull 226 feet long, 40 feet wide and weighed 1221 tonnes. It ran between Porter Ave in Buffalo to a dock just North of the old Fort near the foot of Beatrice St. On November 3rd 1873 the "Grand Trunk Railroad" opened the "International Railway Bridge". 3 days later the steam ferry "International" made its last trip. On February 2nd 1874 it caught fire while laid up at the Fort Erie dock and burned down to the waters edge. (source; Many Voices II by the Fort Erie Historical Museum)

If you pick a nice day when the water is clear you will be able to see the old wooden beams where the Train Ferry Landing once existed. What an incredible feat this must have been before the ice boom was built.
