This cache is located near the nice little church Agia Marina. Unfortunately we could not find more information about this church, but it is worth a visit. Nearby the church there is a place with a great view over Agrinio. This town has about 100.000 inhabitants and is located in the region of Aetolia-Acarnania. It is the economical center of Aetolia-Acarnania although its capital is Messolongi. As wikipedia states: The settlement dates back to ancient times. Ancient Agrinion was 3km northeast of the present city. Some walls and foundations of ancient Agrinion have been excavated. In medieval times and until 1836 it was known as Vrachori (Βραχώρι). For a long time the inhabitants of Agrinio worked in the important tobacco industry. There were big tobacco companies in the city.
You also can see lake Trichonida. With a length of 19 km and a maximum depth of 58 m it is the largest natural lake in Greece. It covers an area of nearly 100 km².
We placed this cache during our holiday visit at Agrinio where my brother (in law) lives with his family. He will also help us in taking care of this cache when needed and we are not here.
Please note: you might meet some small snakes or turtles, but both of them should not be dangerous.
