Welcome to Wamunyu, home to the Kamba people who are known throughout East Africa for their basket weaving skills and exciting displays of music and dance. They are also known throughout the world for their masterful woodcarvings. Wamunyu is also the birthplace of Kenya Connect (KC), a NGO that connects students and teachers of this region of Kenya with their peers across the globe.
The KC Trail series aims to connect you with the local culture. The caches are managed by the KC Geocachers Club; a group of secondary students who meet at KC’s Learning Resource Center (KC Trail: Headquarters). You are seeking a small ammo can hidden on the property of the Kenya Connect Learning Resource Center, a solar-powered computer center funded by KC supporters worldwide. If your timing is good, you may be able to get on a computer and log your find.
The cache is available from 7:00AM – 7:00PM daily. The center is open from Monday to Friday through out the year. You are free to visit on weekends but you will not find kids at the center. However, we remain closed on most national holidays. Whenever date of the week you visit, please tell the guard at the entrance gate that you are here to find the geocache. You will most likely be met by a sea of warm smiling (and giggling) faces, but don’t expect them to help you find the cache.
A beautiful locally made lion woodcarving awaits the FTF. Lots of other crafty goodies are available for the followers as well.
