This cache is placed in conjunction with the 100th Aniversary of the Lincoln Highway and the 6th Annual Grand Ol' Highway Event. This series will take you along the 1913 alignment of The Lincoln Highway through La Porte County.
Henry Joy, President of the Packard Motor Car Company suggested that the first transcontinental highway would make a very fitting and appealing memorial to Abraham Lincoln. In 1913 the road officially became known as the Lincoln Highway and national support became a symbol of patriotism.
