T'was many years ago, in our younger day, this bridge used to swing while we were all at play. It provided the dare of how brave one could be, to stay in the middle while keeping arms free.
It hung very high with wet rocks below. dangerously exciting as it swung to and fro. Our parents would worry if they only knew, our creative adventures...more than a few.
Oh what a surprise it brought to the face, of the innocent visitors' first trek to this place. Old hands, of course, would give them the nod, to go on ahead...and behind they would trod.
And as the "newbies" came close to the center, a big jump at the end would begin the encounter. Hands would flail for something to grasp. A challenge to just make it to the far side at last.
So as you pause on the bridge for a moment today, close your eyes and imagine the children at play, many years in the past when it really did swing, All the laughter and FEAR this old bridge used to bring.
NOTE: No children were hurt in the making of this history (at least as far as their parents knew about) ENJOY!
