Approach to the cache: Beware that the area is under protection! You can only approach the cache on foot! In places the terrain is difficult to negotiate, it can be marshy! You have to leave your car 400 metres and your bike 300 metres from the cache.
HU: A mocsár
A nyírség kialakulásában a folyók vándorlásai voltak meghatározóak. A szintkülönbségek ellenére meglehetősen változatos képet mutat a terület talajtani szempontból. A mély fekvésű láp és réti talajok mellett barna erdőtalajjal és ritkán szikfoltokkal is tarkított. A folyók hordalékából alakult ki az itteni homoktalaj, és a rendszeres áradások meghatározták a táj arculatát. A homokbuckák közötti mélyedésekben és az ősfolyómedrekben összefutó talajvíz és a rendszeres árvízi vízpótlás eredményeképpen összefüggő lápos mocsaras élőhelyek alakultak ki. A buckaközökben állandóan képződő párát a mocsarakat határolt erdők nem engedték távozni a mély fekvésű területekről, így a mocsarakban állandóan nedves, hűvös mikroklíma alakult ki. Ennek a fizikai tényezőnek köszönhető a számos ritka reliktum faj megléte. A folyószabályozás és a mezőgazdálkodás kiterjesztésével az ember a legtöbb ilyen nyírvíz lapos élőhelyet kiszárította. Az igrice mocsár is erre a sorsa jutott, de később mégis elindult a roncsolt terület természetes megújulása. Ismét megjelentek ill. megerősödtek a korábban itt élő növénytársulások, és állatok.
A területen művelési ág szerint, gyepek,nádasok, erdők, vízállások vannak, jelenleg mezőgazdaság nem folyik a területen. A területtel szomszédos gyümölcsösökben intenzív gazdálkodás folyik, ami elsősorban a fokozott vegyszerhasználat miatt jelent veszélyt a a védett területek víz és talajminőségére. A mocsár, nagy kiterjedésű nádasaival és nyílt vízfelületeivel a Nyírségre valaha jellemző élőhelyet őrzi. Elhelyezkedése: Az Igrice mocsár a város északi oldalán, a város - Sóstóhegy - Ilonatanya által határolt háromszögben fekszik. Az 1852-ben kezdődő lecsapolásáig - a Bujtos mocsarával - együtt a város egyik legnagyobb mocsara volt. Értékét a város közelsége, valamint a benne található páratlan flóra- és faunavilág adja. Ezt az értéket a város is felismerte és 1992.-ben védetté nyilvánította. A vadászati hatóság vadászati kíméleti területté nyilvánította a több, mint 70 ha nagyságú mocsarat. Több mint száz madárfaj és kétszáznál is több növényfaj előfordulása bizonyított. A területet az Igrice csatorna táplálja a felszínről összegyűlő csapadékvízzel. A mocsár közepén két nagyobb, kb. 5 - 5 ha kiterjedésű nyílt vízfelület is van. Külön ritkaság, hogy a város közelsége ellenére a rekettyefüzesben az egyébként igen félénk bakcsó is megtelepedett.
A terület teljesen bejárható egész évben szakvezetéssel, amihez előzetes bejelentkezés szükséges.
EN: The Marsh
It was the wonderings of the rivers that created the character of the Nyírség. From the point of view of soil type the area shows a wide variety of character in spite of the different levels. Besides of the deep swamps and meadow soils, you can find brown forest soils as well as the rarer salt marsh. It was the river silt that formed the current sandy soil, and it were the regular floods that defined the look of this country. In the hollows between the sand dunes and due to the high water table running together with the regular flood waters, continuous swampy habitats were formed. The condensation between the dunes couldn’t leave the area due to the close proximity of the surrounding forest, therefore a permanently damp and cool microclimate was created. It was due to these physical characteristics that several rare species thrived in these conditions. Due to the regulation of rivers and the expansion of agriculture, humans have drained and dried these type of flat habitats. The Igrice Marsh had this fate as well, although later the renewal of the damaged area got going again naturally. The previously present combination of flora and animals have reappeared or strengthened. Currently there are several different branches of cultivation present: grassy land, reeds, forest, open water and at present no agriculture is practiced. The directly neighbouring territories are currently engaged in intensive horticulture (fruit production), which is dangerous primarily through its chemical usage affecting the quality of the water and soils of the marsh. The marsh, with its large reed beds and open water areas is safeguarding the once typical Nyírség habitats. Its position: The Igrice Marsh is situated in the town - Sóstóhegy - Ilonatanya triangle. Until its draining in 1852, together with the Bujtos Marsh it formed one of the largest marshes of the town. Its value is in its close proximity to town, as well in its unique flora and fauna. This value was recognised by the town and it has enjoyed protected status since 1992. The hunting authorities declared the marsh, measuring more than 70 hectares, free of hunting. There are more than a hundred different birds species and 200+ species of plant which have been proved to live in the marsh. The area is supplied by water by the Igrice canal, which collects the surface rainwater. In the middle of the marsh there are two, appr. 5 – 5 hectares large open areas of water. It is specially rare, that in spite of the close proximity of the town, in the thickets the very nervous Black-crowned Night Heron has settled. The area can be visited all year round with a guide, but visitors need to give prior notice.
