Geocache Description:

This technical slot canyon is located on the East side of Las Vegas. To get to this cache the way I did you must bring rope and know how to rappell using natural anchors!! All the rappells had good anchors when we went through but come prepared with extra webbing and quick links just in case anything is missing. If you have never been down a technical canyon please be sure to take someone that has.TECHNICAL GEAR IS NEEDED TO DESCEND THIS CANYON!

This technical slot canyon is located pretty much in Las Vegas. You can park at the East end of Washington Ave. and hike up to the top of the canyon, this will not require a shuttle but it is a tough climb, you will need to take the ridge to the North of the canyon all the way to the top then descend down to the road that goes to the peak then down the canyon. The other option is to park one vehicle at the East end of Washington Ave. and another vehicle off Lake Meade Blvd and hike up the road that goes to Frenchman Peak. Either way be sure to lock vauables vehicles have been known to get broken into in this area!! (The road way would be easier but will require a shuttle witch can be a pain, I say toughen up and make the trek up the ridge)

The actual canyon has 4-6 rappels just depending on what you decide to down climb. When we did the Canyon there was one rappel that had a green pond at the bottom of it that can be deep, we traversed the wall at the bottom to avoid it but it was a little tricky. The last rappel in the canyon is the longest and I would say it is less than 80 ft. This canyon has both bolted and natural anchors, be sure to check all the webbing really good, we found cut and anchors that were set up wrong when we did the canyon!! As always bring extra webbing and know how to repair natural anchors that may be damaged! Only go in this canyon if you have the necessary skills to rappell and navigate your way down a technical canyon!!!! ALSO NEVER ENTER A SLOT CANYON IF IT IS RAINING OR THERE IS A CHANCE OF RAIN!!!
