Geocache Description:

WOW.... 5 years! Where has the time gone?

Event at:

Nothing Fancy Cafe

40230 US Highway 27

Davenport, FL 33837

6:30pm

It all started end of November, 2008! I was in the car with my boss coming home from a business trip to Jacksonville. My best friend Ryan (thinairmagic) called to tell me about this "game" he heard about at work. Some guy (OldScoutefDad) had come into Home Depot to buy some supply for a Geocache and explained geocaching to me was what Ryan told me! My response was the typical "What the heck is a Geocache?"

He proceeded to explain Geocaching to me. I pretended to act interested but in my mind I was thinking Ryan must have hit his head today because this sounds stupid! Containers, log books, GPS. What do I win was my question? Nothing just for fun was his response!

I signed up as a member on 12/4/2008. On 12/7/2008 I went caching with Ryan for the first time. My first cache was Museum of the Apopkans. (GC9CA0)

The first month or so I did not have my own GPS so I only went when Ryan did! I still was not sold on the game but hey, it got me out of the house!

Then the day came, I got my own GPS!  From that point forward it was like a switch went off and I was a man on a mission! Especially when it came to my beloved FTF! I became known as an FTF Hound! Boy, can I tell some stories about FTF chasing!

The best part about caching though is all of the friends I have met that I would have never met and all the cool places caching has taken me to

Now, over the last year or so, I have slowed way down on my caching! Have other priorities in my life! I still cache when I can and enjoy it, just not as much as I use to.

Please join us on this night to help me celebrate 5 years of caching!

Debbie, the owner of Nothing Fancy will be running a burger special for us that night. Please include in your attend log how many people will be joining you. If we have a larger group then she is going to reserve the larger side for our event.

Thanks everyone and see you at the event.
