Welcome to Tahoe. For you city folk, you need to understand that this really is a park-n-grab. That is if the gate to the road is open... and there isn't too much snow on the road... and you have a 4x4 vehicle... and it has enough ground clearance...
If not, expect a bit of a hike from the TRT trailhead parking area. The terrain rating is for those who need to hike in (otherwise it would be a 1.5 at best).
