Geocache Description:

This cache will take you near to the Enterprise Golf Course. If you like to golf, why not try out your stroke after you find the cache (or vice versa)? There is a pull-off next to the cache, but it may look less suspicious if you park in front of the Club House.

An interesting piece of history about this golf course is that during WWII, a Bomber had to make an emergency landing here! On May 29, 1944 a B-24 Liberator was on a training flight out of Walla Walla. The crew ended up losing their bearings in a storm that cut visibility and all radio communications. The pilot almost ran into the Wallowa Mountains, but managed to circle back to Enterprise. It began making low passes over the airport, as hundreds of cars and a firetruck attempted to light up the runway. However, the plane ended up having to make an emergency landing on the golf course. As it made its landing, it skimmed the clubhouse and some trees. It touched down and locked all its wheels, skidding 700 yards before coming to a stop. Amazingly, no one was killed in this incident, unlike other emergency landings in the county. However, it took Army engineers nearly a month to get the Bomber out of here!

This cache is a small vitamin bottle. Be sure to be stealthy! There may be plenty of muggles around!

Enjoy this cache!
