The Speed River Trail runs from Guelph to Cambridge and follows the Speed River wherever possible. It is maintained by the Guelph Hiking Trail Club (GHTA). This section of the trail runs down the east side of the Speed River from Wellington Road 32 to Blackbridge Road.
Roadside parking is available for several cars. To get to the trailhead, go down the steps from the road towards the river and look for the blazes and GHTA sign. Follow the blazes and stay on the trail until you are within 5 metres of the cache.
Spring Advisory: The Speed River Trail runs through a low area adjacent to the Speed River. When the river is in flood in the spring it can be hazardous. Please use extra caution! In addition, the trail is apt to be muddy until the ground is completely thawed out and dries up a bit. If spring flooding is extensive this cache may be unavailable as a result of flooding across the trail. Note as well that since this is a low lying damp area, in mosquito season a bug shirt and/or insect repellant are recommended.
