Geocache Description:

A cache on Independence Mountian overlooking the North Park of Colorado beside historic Native American teepee rings.

This cache is located next to the site where Native American hunting parties would set up camp on a ridge on Independence Mountian overlooking the North Park of Colorado.  From this site you can see the Rawah mountains to the east and the Zirkel mountains to the west, while overlooking the North Platte river.  The hunting parties would set up camp on this ridge, watching for buffalo, deer, elk & pronghorn.  The stones that were used to anchor the teepee covers are still there and easily viewed.

This is located west of Cowdrey, Colorado (just north of Walden, CO).  The road leading up to this site is not paved, and can be difficult in bad weather.

There is a buck & pole fence surrounding the site and an informational plaque.
